India vs New Zealand: Virat Kohli and Co. fail with the bat once again as Black Caps take control of second Test

Image
Christchurch: India's top-order frittered away a golden chance with another shoddy batting as New Zealand regained complete control after Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah's hostile fast-bowling spell had given the visitors a slender first-innings lead in the second Test on Sunday. Shami (4/81 in 23.1 overs) and Bumrah (3/62 in 22 overs) were brilliant in their execution, dismissing New Zealand for 235 in 73.1 overs as they showed why they are one of deadliest fast bowling pair in Test match cricket. However, India's top-order failed miserably once again as New Zealand bounced back, reducing India to 90 for six at stumps on day two as a three-day finish is on the cards. India is now effectively 97 runs ahead with only four wickets in hand and it will take a miraculous effort to avert another series whitewash after the ODIs. Trent Boult (3/12 in 9 overs) got Mayank Agarwal (3) and Cheteshwar Pujara (24) with conventional inswingers that tails into right-handers. Prith

Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe, Live Cricket Score, 1st ODI at Sylhet

Preview: Zimbabwe will play their first ODI since July 2019, before which they were clean swept in five of their last six bilateral series. They now face a stiff challenge against Bangladesh, who have defeated them in each of the last 13 matches. The two teams come into the ODI series following a one-off Test where Zimbabwe were undone by Bangladesh's batting masterclass, where they went down by an innings and 106 runs. Former skipper Sean Williams returns to the fold for Zimbabwe. But they would need more from youngsters Brendon Taylor and Craig Ervine. They have a new ODI captain in Chamu Chibhabha, the all-rounder, who's been given the role on an interim basis. The bowling line-up displays an unfamiliar look. The senior men Christopher Mpofu and Donald Tiripano will seek assistance from youngster Charlton Tshuma, who made his international debut in the Test. The spin department comprises of finger-spinners Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and Ainsley Ndlovu to go with the all-round a

India vs New Zealand, Highlights, 2nd Test in Christchurch, Day 2, Full Cricket Score: Visitors lead by 97 runs in second innings at stumps

11:38 (IST) What a day of Test cricket we witnessed. As many as 16 wickets fell through the course of the day's play, six of which are Indian. A score of 90/6 doesn't inspire much confidence and unless Vihari and Pant conjure up a magical partnership tomorrow, their chances of levelling the two-Test series look very difficult. Can't wait to see how the day unfolds on Monday. For now, it's a goodbye from us. 11:38 (IST) Well, India are in a spot of bother here. They have thrown away the advantage as the pendulum has swung towards New Zealand at the fag end of the day. But from New Zealand's point of view, it is good to see Boult bowling at his usual best after being off coloured in the previous few innings. India have to bat out their skins tomorrow to get close to the 200-run mark.  11:36 (IST) Cheteshwar Pujara dismissed by bowlers most times in Tests: 9 : Nathan Lyon 7 : James Anderson 4 : Stuart Broad, Josh Hazlewood, Ben Stokes, TRENT BOULT* There w

South Africa vs Australia: Heinrich Klaasen scores century as Proteas clinch first ODI by 74 runs

Image
Paarl:  Heinrich Klaasen's first one-day international century successfully set up South Africa for a 74-run win as Australia were bowled out for 217 while chasing 292 in the series-opener on Saturday. Klaasen, often on the fringes of South Africa's limited-overs teams, made 123 not out from 114 balls as the home team posted 291-7 in Paarl. Klaasen had only one previous half century in ODI cricket and was playing his first one-dayer in more than a year. South Africa were 48-3 in the 10th over, having lost Janneman Malan first ball of the game on his debut, lbw to Mitchell Starc. Klaasen set about rescuing the innings with his seven fours and three sixes. David Miller supported with a 70-ball 64. Kyle Verreynne also helped with 48 on his ODI debut. Australia threatened with an 84-run stand for the third wicket between Steve Smith (76) and Marnus Labuschagne, who made 41 against his country of birth. Image
Christchurch : India men's head coach Ravi Shastri termed the Basin Reserve debacle as a timely "shake up" for his team which will now go into the second Test with an "open mind", fully aware of the challenges that New Zealand will pose over the next five days. "I always believe when you are on a run like we were, a shake-up like that (first Test) is good because it opens your mindset. When you are on the road winning all the time and you haven't tasted defeat, you can have a closed or fixed mindset," Shastri said on the eve of the second Test. "...there are opportunities to learn. You know what strategies New Zealand are employing and now you are prepared, what to expect and you have your plans on how to counter that. It's a good lesson and I am sure the b
